The next time someone says that you are inherently good,
tell them that on this earth, our default is darkness.
We only know light because we rotate just enough and we’re located just right;
next to a star that keeps us alive.
It burns, we burn, radiant and beautiful.
The next time someone says that you are inherently good,
tell them, no,
I am good because you have illuminated me.

we keep each other human. (m.b.)
