that’s…very weird tbh. as long as it’s the original post, how you catalogue it on your own blog doesn’t affect them at all.

i tend to lump all of the inspirational art i find in with my references as “sensitive writer problems”. i assume that, so long as you’re maintaining the credit link and your tags don’t imply that you own the piece, it should be okay.
I actually went and looked at their blog and right on their sidebar was a note saying “tag this as ‘kin’ or ‘me’ and I will find you.” Aaaaand a reblog of the piece captioned “I absolutely regret posting this because of how fucking rude and awful people tagging it are.” I know I wasn’t rude and I’d already untagged their work, ergo they must have a recurring problem with people appropriating stuff. I guess they just assumed that’s what I was doing as well. It still would have been nice if they’d checked before, y’know, jumping down my throat
tumblr etiquette question for the masses
is it okay to tag other peoples’ artwork with your own inspo tags? i.e., tagging a work with #insertstorytaghere. I just answered an ask (hopefully they got it, since I also just remembered tumblr eats ellipses) from an artist asking that I not tag their art “as my personal projects.”
The language is a little ambiguous here so I’m not sure if they thought I was trying to claim credit (it wasn’t a repost and had their original caption, so ???), or if they just didn’t want their art in my inspiration tag— also ????
Am I missing something here? Is this person just really particular about their art??? I don’t want to offend anyone, I just want to collect pretty things that help me visualize what I’m writing
