to make a short story long, podcasts are kind of a New Thing I’ve been trying to do to Improve Myself, like wheatgrass shots for the ears, and while some of them are eh (This American Life is boring as fuck, come at me) I’m really enjoying a lot of lady podcasts right now, especially the simultaneously vapid and sweet Call Your Girlfriend and the always edifying Stuff You Missed in History Class

the thing with high quality podcasts, though, is that high quality usually equals money and podcasters get money by selling shit on their podcasts 

usually, treacherously, podcasts don’t break for commercials or anything that gauche but the podcasters will just be like, “here comes an endorsement! I really love MeUndies.com, their underwear is super soft and really well made and oh by the way you can literally subscribe to them so that a new pattern of the month will arrive in your mailbox every thirty days and the December pattern is snowflake cross-stitch”

the moral of the story is that capitalism ruins everything and now I can’t tell if I genuinely love my new underwear or if I’ve been bamboozled by the bourgeois, for they control the means of production
